How about a green update?

Have you ever wondered how operational changes affect the environment — and whether your company is truly prepared for that challenge? New international standards in environmental management demand exactly this: a systematic consideration of environmental aspects in every decision.

Whether we speak of climate change, biodiversity, or resource conservation — these topics have long become essential to strategic corporate management. At the Day of Environmental and Waste Officers at Vienna City Hall, Bruno Graf‑Feyerabend (Auditor TÜV AUSTRIA, trainer and coach) demonstrated how companies can prepare for the upcoming revision of the international environmental management standard ISO 14001:2026. The revision introduces not only new terminology and structures, but also a clear mandate: organizations must identify risks and opportunities at an early stage, deliberately steer external processes, and actively accompany change. This is not merely a challenge — it is an opportunity to anchor sustainability within the company in a renewed and meaningful way.

A Look at the Day of Environmental and Waste Officers
The Day of Environmental and Waste Officers is a fixed date in the calendar for all company-appointed representatives, offering—as always—current topics and the latest updates from the field. The upcoming Day of Environmental and Waste Officers will take place on 26 November 2026 at Vienna City Hall, as a cooperation between the TÜV AUSTRIA Academy and the City of Vienna’s Environmental Protection Department.

In addition to his presentation on the revision of ISO 14001:2026, Bruno Graf‑Feyerabend also addressed the topic of resilience. While Adelheid Sagmeister and Klaus Mayer (ÖkoKauf Wien) discussed the reform of the City of Vienna’s sustainable procurement program, Christian Kozina Voit (Institute for Sustainable Management) explored pathways toward climate neutrality. Bertram Haeupler (OekoBusiness Wien) introduced ‘Biodiversitaetsfit,’ a new advisory service for Viennese companies, and Andreas Gruber (TÜV TRUST IT) demonstrated how AI is opening innovative perspectives in the waste management sector. The program was rounded off with insights into current legal developments in environmental and waste legislation by David Suchanek (NHP Niederhuber & Partner), as well as a contribution on resource scarcity and the circular economy by Fabian Holly (Circular Economy Forum Austria).
